How would you define your personal style?

My ideal personal style is relaxed, timeless, and sophisticated.

What is your trademark accessory?

A pocketsquare.

Do you have any hobbies?

As a hobby, I design and make Afrocentric clothes. It’s a fun way to stay connected to my heritage and my passion for fashion.

Do you have a favorite travel destination?

Besides London and Florence, nothing excites me more than thinking of Lagos, Nigeria, my busy hometown and a major source of inspiration.

Why Toronto?

When I think of myself, the city of Toronto also comes to mind because I am laid back and open to diverse cultures. Toronto has become a world class shopping destination and from a fashion perspective, I like that we have 4 seasons.

Tell us about yourself and how you became a Stylist.

My style career started in retail, after which I moved on to a family-owned luxury boutique based in Alberta. My time there allowed me to gain an intimate knowledge of luxury fashion. Despite my love for designing and managing a boutique, I decided to enroll at Polimoda International Institute of Fashion Design & Marketing in Florence, during which I deepened my understanding of fashion business fundamentals. Studying in Italy, refined my perspective on style and deepened my appreciation for high-quality craftsmanship. Fashion design, customer service and business management have always been my passions, so it was natural that I pursue a career as a Stylist.

What can Clients expect when they book an appointment with an ALFRED SUNG Stylist?

When visiting the ALFRED SUNG Toronto showroom, Clients are greeted by a Stylist and there is a discussion about the Clients wardrobe needs. We then review fabrics, style, construction details and the Client can browse our collection. We like to offer seasonal colour palettes and update our fabrics often. Moving on to a fitting, we accurately record over 36 body measurements, from neck width to calf width, even measuring the slope of shoulders and back curves - It’s much more than just getting the arm lengths correct, we really spend time crafting a perfect custom garment . We store all the Client information for reference and for future orders. An initial appointment is typically about an hour. 2-3 weeks later, our shops are finished creating the garment, and Clients are invited back to the showroom for a fitting. Any alterations that are needed are completed within days - our concierge service will even deliver it with a final fitting to your home or office.

What is the most important part about being a Stylist?

Guiding Clients to the right style is the most important part of my job. I also want to make it easy on Clients - I strive to advise them on looks that continue to serve their sartorial needs over many seasons. In addition to trends, I pay attention to detail and fit. Clients appreciate my honesty and when I’m able to deliver great quality, styling and service, it’s a great feeling.

What is the most important piece of style advice you can offer?

Continue to invest in timeless pieces, like a classic camel overcoat or a great navy suit.

What is your favorite style trend for Fall 2019?

Soft neutral colors and tonal dressing.
